Forums, exhibitions, negotiations and teambuilding: the cities of Kuban - centers of business tourism
What associations come to mind when you think of a business trip? Surely it will be an office style of clothing, a pile of documents and it is unlikely that you will think about taking beach accessories or sunscreen with you? However, all this will be useful for business meetings in the south of Russia. Every year, the Krasnodar region is gaining more positions as a leader not only in beach or wellness recreation, but also in business and event tourism. Which cities accept participants of exhibitions, negotiations and congresses, and where is the appropriate infrastructure?
The leaders of business tourism in Kuban are
Krasnodar and Sochi.
The first one is the capital of the region, where all administrative and important business centers, even large exhibition complexes and representative offices of companies are located. In addition, Krasnodar airport, which accepts not only domestic but also international flights, is conveniently located in relation to other cities of the region.

By 2023, a new airport complex will be built in the city, which will become a multimodal hub, that is, it will be possible to leave directly from the building of the air harbor by buses and trains. Which again speaks to the development of infrastructure, including for business tourism. And the organizers of many business events have already appreciated the convenience of holding them in Krasnodar-international agro-industrial, furniture, construction exhibitions, hundreds of seminars, negotiations and meetings are held at the sites of Krasnodar complexes, in the business halls of hotels.

Dozens of event agencies in the city provide assistance in organizing such events, doing "turnkey" work, that means doing everything from buying air tickets and booking hotels to translation services and ordering catering.
A similar level is offered by Sochi, which has become the main center of business tourism in the south of Russia thanks to the 2014 Olympics.

For the main sporting event, the infrastructure of the southern resort was not just rebuilt, it was actually created from scratch. As an example of this statement – the Imereti lowland, which by the Olympics has changed beyond recognition and continues its development, becoming part of the new federal territory of Sirius. Modern hotels, a well-developed transport network, and the presence of an international airport within the city limits determine the popularity of Sochi as a center of business tourism. What other city in Russia can boast of combining beach holidays with business events? Or spend teambuilding in nature, for example, going on a hike, or at sports facilities, including the Olympic ones. Imagine how your company's team plays football at Fisht, where seven years ago the Olympic medals were awarded, and three years ago the strongest football players on the planet found out who is the best, during the World Cup. Or imagine your team went out on the ice of the "Iceberg", where Russian President Vladimir Putin himself plays hockey.

The multi-day programs of forums, conferences, symposiums and congresses are a great opportunity to combine the business and entertainment parts, providing participants with communication options not only within the framework of business meetings, but also in an informal setting, for example, during the Olympic attractions, beach holidays or excursions to Krasnaya Polyana. Interestingly, in recent years, business tourism organizers are increasingly choosing Sochi, rather than the usual Moscow and St. Petersburg. This is particularly illustrated by the pandemic. After the end of the quarantine, employees from both capitals rushed to the south - to bask in the sun and work with a sea view, floral landscapes, and also enjoy the Kuban cuisine. The trend was noticed in large companies, which began to transfer entire offices of employees to work in the southernmost and sunniest region of Russia.

By the way, statistics show an increase in requests for various kinds of events in the so-called "low season", that is, from October to May, when it is already warm in the southern capital, there is snow in the mountains of Krasnaya Polyana and ski holidays are available, but prices for hotels and tickets are not as high as in summer. And thanks to the developed transport network, you can easily and quickly get from the seaside cluster to the mountain and vice versa.

Palm trees, endless beaches and mountain scenery – this is what will be remembered for a business event that will take place in the southern capital of Russia.

If we talk about the Black Sea coast, Gelendzhik, Anapa and Novorossiysk have recently become new cities for holding business events.
The choice of these municipalities is primarily due to the presence of airports or seaports (in the case of Novorossiysk), as well as a developed network of hotels, seaside nature and a rich excursion program that involves any type of recreation – from yacht trips to enogastronomical trips.

Moreover, to book a hotel and arrange a transfer, you can either use the services of numerous travel agencies, in the region there are also those that specialize in business tourism, or do it yourself. Popular booking services in Sochi alone offer more than a thousand hotels for a business trip.
Before the coronavirus pandemic, the number of foreign tourists who annually came to the Krasnodar region for business and event activities was about 1 million people. And it is safe to say that this figure will be repeated in the post-covid period.

In the near future, the regional authorities plan to continue the development of MICE tourism, which is diverse in the region: from small meeting and conference halls to large exhibition centers and open forum venues of international level. So there are all prerequisites to believe that by 2030 Kuban will become a leader not only in the field of resort recreation, but also business tourism.
