Golubaya Bay

Голубая бухта

Golubaya Bay (Blue Bay) got its name because of the color of the rocks that form its bottom and the beach. They consist of very dense greenish-gray limestone. This rock color gives the water in the bay a bluish tint.

There is another reason why the bay can be considered blue. Here, a powerful layer of blue clay comes out of the mountain directly into the water. The springs wash the mountain, at the foot of which a small lake is formed, filled with liquid mud.

In summer, vacationers gather from all the surrounding recreation centers to take a mud bath. After the reception of the procedure ends, the clay is washed off into the sea. And from this place a cloudy bluish-greenish spot spreads over a vast part of the water area.

The healing properties of local blue clay have not been studied in detail by anyone. Data on a noticeable anti-aging effect of the clay has been obtained experimentally.

You can get to the Golubaya Bay by driving through the village of Bzhid that is 11 km away from Dzhubga.
