Adler District Museum of History

Музей истории Адлерского района

In the district of Adler, once there functioned a department of the Museum of History of the resort city of Sochi. The idea of setting up an independent museum in Adler belonged to Igor Konstantinovich Nedolya (1902-1974).

On September 1, 1989, with the help of workers of the Department of Culture and the Sochi Museum of History, a museum exposition "Adler district since ancient times to the present day" was opened on the basis of collections created by war and labor veterans of Adler district of 1950-80s. The initiators were the Hero of the Soviet Union Voitenko Stefan Efimovich and Popov Robert Maksimovich. That day is considered as the foundation date of the Adler District Museum of History.

The museum rents a space of 205 sq.m. from the Caucasus State Natural Biosphere Reserve administration, which is located in a building constructed in 1913.

Currently, the museum funds comprise about 2 thousand items, including a collection of paintings by the Honored Artist of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, a member of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation Bronislav Stashevsky, and a collection of local history writer I.K. Nedolya.
