Monument to the crew of the minelayer "Nikolay Ostrovsky"

Памятник экипажу минного заградителя «Николай Островский»

The monument to the crew of the "Nikolay Ostrovsky" minelayer is located on the embankment of the city of Tuapse. In 1942, "Nikolai Ostrovsky" was modernized from a cargo-passenger ship into a minelayer, it was stationed at the dock of a shipyard and was preparing for sea trials. On March 23, 1942, the fascist aviation launched a massive air raid on the Tuapse port. Within three days, more than 700 residents of the city of Tuapse became victims of the bombing. During the raids, the bomb hit a minelayer; more than 100 people worked on it at that time. The ship caught fire and "Nikolai Ostrovsky" sank to the bottom.

In 1971, in September, a monument to the dead mine layer crew was set up. Nineteen names of sailors are engraved on a marble slab.
