Monument to Prometheus

Памятник Прометею

To erect a monument to Prometheus at the very cliff is an idea that belongs to the sculptor from Omsk Alexander Kapralov. It was thanks to the efforts of this man that in 1998 the top of the Eagle Rocks was adorned with a proud statue of a man-god.

But still, the local townspeople created their own legend, which tells how this titan appeared in its present place.

Prometheus aroused the wrath of the thunderer by bringing fire to people, for which Zeus doomed him to terrible torment - he ordered him to be chained to a rock, and every day an eagle flew to Prometheus and pecked at his liver, which grew up again in the morning. And further in the Caucasian legend, the god Akhyn appears - the patron saint of the Black Sea coast, who made sure that the punishment of Prometheus was carried out, and a girl named Agura, who took pity on the martyr and brought him water. Having learned about this, Akhyn became angry and turned the girl into a mountain river, which now flows at the Eagle Rocks.

Today's route: from the noisy Agura waterfalls to the Eagle Rocks, where the handsome Prometheus stands - one of the most popular among tourists, because the places here are picturesque and the monument looks very harmonious among white rocks and a sea of foliage.
