The Psydakh and Shapsug waterfalls

Водопад Псыдах и Шапсуг

The Psydakh and Shapsug waterfalls are located in the Lygotkhskoye forestry of the Sochi National Park. About 5 km from the village of Kalezh, at the place where the left tributary flows into the Bekishey River, there is a cascade of three beautiful waterfalls under the general name Psydakh. The lower, lowest, waterfall reaches a height of 2.5 m. You can climb to the middle and upper waterfalls by a specially built wooden staircase with railings.

An average waterfall 5 m high falls from a narrow canyon 2 m wide, which further expands and takes the form of a stone bag with steep inaccessible walls. A picturesque three-stage waterfall breaks down from the wall that closes the gorge. Water falls from a height of 30 meters, breaking into dust, and a white foam stream rushes into a small reservoir at the foot. The mesmerizing beauty of the gorge and the waterfall prompted the indigenous inhabitants of these places, Shapsugs, to call it "Psedakh", which means "Beautiful water". If you go upstream of the Bekishey river from the Psydakh cascade, you can see a tributary, in the mouth of which there is a cascade of four waterfalls. The highest and most beautiful of them is the lower one, it has the name Shapsug. This is a two-stage waterfall with a height of about 20 m. Water falls from a steep ledge onto an inclined platform, slides down from it and again breaks down in a wide stream.
